This Privacy Policy explains how the Lawrence Teachers' Association ("LTA," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information through the LTA member portal, including its website and any mobile app versions.
Information We Collect
Account information. LTA officers or administrators create member accounts on your behalf, collecting your name, email address, school affiliation, and membership role. You'll receive an invitation to sign in and set your own password.
Login and security information. We automatically record login events — date/time, IP address, and browser/device information — to help secure member accounts and investigate unauthorized access.
Push notification data. If you opt in to push notifications, we store the technical subscription details your browser or device provides so we can deliver notifications to you. You can turn this off at any time in Notification Preferences.
Submissions. If you use the "Report a Concern" feature, we collect the content of your submission and your preferred contact method, linked to your member account so an officer can follow up with you directly.
Administrative records. Actions taken by officers and admins — such as approving members or editing page content — are logged with the acting member's identity, to keep the portal accountable and auditable.
How We Use Information
We use this information only to operate the member portal: to authenticate members, deliver relevant content and notifications, respond to submissions, and keep the app secure. We do not sell member information and do not use it for advertising.
Who We Share Information With
We share information only with the service providers that operate the app's underlying infrastructure, strictly so the app can run:
- Supabase — database hosting and member authentication
- Vercel — application hosting
These providers process data on our behalf only and don't use it for their own purposes. We don't otherwise share member information with third parties, except where required by law.
Your Choices
These options are available once you have a member account (they don't apply to visitors browsing without one):
- Officers and admins can update their display name directly in Settings. Other members can request a change by contacting an officer or admin.
- Opt out of push notifications at any time.
- To request that your account or data be removed, contact an LTA officer or administrator.
Children's Privacy
This app is intended for adult union members — teachers, librarians, and school staff — and is not directed at children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
